History
The Bugkalot are a tribal group that live in the Sierra Madre Mountain Range located on the large northern island of Luzon in the Philippines. Traditionally, the Bugkalot are headhunters who first heard the Gospel in the mid 1950s. Their story is one of the great redemptive stories of the twentieth century. God has continued to work in their midst and today, there are more than thirty churches across Bugkalot territory. The Bugkalot believe that “those to whom
others have gone must become those who go to others,” and in response to that creed they have sent out nearly twenty missionaries since 2010.
Connection
The Potter’s House became connected with the Bugkalot through Global Empowerment, an organization that exists “to strengthen the church where the church is, to send the church where the church is not”. Folks from the Potter’s House have made several trips to visit with and assist the Bugkalot with their church-planting efforts, and through our partnership with the Bugkalot we have also gained an affiliation with the Agta tribal group along the southeast coast of Luzon, and the Mangyan tribal group on the island of Mindoro in the Philippines. This partnership has made it possible for our church to have an outreach to more than 100,000 people among more than ten tribal groups.
We are thankful for all that God has allowed us to accomplish for His glory through these partnerships.
Purpose Statement
The Potter’s House exists to be the church, by making Christ-committed followers who will make Christ-committed followers in our community and around the world, through relevantly teaching and living the pure Word of God.
